Book Review: Dead Is a State Of Mind

Title : Dead Is a State of Mind
Genre : Teen supernatural romance
Length : 175 pages
Author : Marlene Perez
Series : Dead Is
Book number 2

The Summary
Welcome to Nightshade, California—a small town full of secrets. It’s home to the psychic Giordano sisters, who have a way of getting mixed up in mysteries. During their investigations, they run across everything from pom-pom- shaking vampires to shape-shifting boyfriends to a clue-spewing jukebox. With their psychic powers and some sisterly support, they can crack any case!

There’s a gorgeous new guy at Nightshade High: Duke Sherrad, a fortune-teller claiming to have descended from Gypsies. Even though she’s psychic herself, Daisy is skeptical of Duke’s powers. But when a teacher who was the subject of one of his predictions ends up dead, she begins to wonder if Duke is the real deal after all.

Maybe if Daisy can track down the teacher’s killer, she can find out the truth. The only trouble is, all signs point to the murderer being of the furry persuasion. Is Daisy any match for a werewolf? Maybe she is . . . in more ways than she bargained for!

Review
I really expected more from this book after reading the last one from the series. It was kinda dissapointing because it was more focused on Daisy and Ryan's slowly fading realtionship. The book was basically all about the predictable ways teens act when there in a realtionship.
There was a mystery to be solved though -  it was the murder of one of Daisy's teachers Mr. Davis and she must help determine who killed him and what their motive is.
I found the last 4 chapters were very rushed and poorly written and left me kinda of confused. Firstly she finds out who the killer is in the second last chapter when the book doesn't seem to have really ever reached a climax and secondly she introduces a new character named Bianca who I've never heard of.
So overall this was sooooo not my favorite book by far hopefully the next book in the series is better.

Book Review: Twenties Girl

Twenties Girl is by Sophia Kinsella there are 669 pages. It is set in London and the main character is Lara Lington.
The Summary
Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.
Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

 The Review
It all starts when Lara goes to here great-aunts funeral, there a ghost named Sadie starts talking to her and persuades her to help in her quest to search for her necklace. That was the essential motive until her great  aunt Sadie deciededs shes runnign the show. I loved the book I truly felt the emotion that each character was feeling and didn't know what to expect. Lara must not only find the necklace but deal with a crazy self absobed ghost bothering her. Lara isn't in the best place in her life- shes obsessed with getting her boyfriend back, stressed about her job and is hiding everything from her parents. Along the way Sadie and Lara learn from each other. Lara learns to relax, move on and be more opened to different things as well as learning the truth about her bbf Natalia and about her family history whihc is essentially Sadies past. Sdaie learns that she can't get everything she wants and learns that it doesn't hurt to be giving to another person.
Sophia Kinsella to me oesn't dissapoint and I think this is one of my favorites be her because some books you can guess whats going to happen this one, I honestly thought there would be a different ending but then again it's good to be surprised. She kept her light funny and misschevious writing alive through her new delightful characters.
Any body who likes sophia kinsella should give this a definite read. I personally loved it!

Centre Island Photography

I went to Centre Island with the family and we went on an amazing tour around the Island as well. Took some pictures that I would like to share.

Symmetrical Nail Design

I had a bit of time on my hands at my grandma's place so, I decided to do a quick and simple nail design on my nails. I didn't know how it would turn out, or what it would look like but here's the result of lots of time, boredom and experimenting with different nails polishes. Enjoy!

Book Review:The Chosen Sin

I have just finished reading "The Chosen Sin" by: Anya Bast, There are 309 pages of supernatural drama and romance.
The book is very erotic and edgy with a lot of steamy passionate moments within the book. It is based an a newly formed territory called Darpong and it is within a new galaxy because Earth has become over filled with humans. As it is a futuristic time in the book there are many different technologies and terms used.
I liked this book all though it had me confused at some parts and took me quite a while to read because i started to lose interest. The main characters of the book are Daria Morris or Valarie as her alias who is a human and then becomes a new Vampire or Chosen(which is what vampires are called). Her partner during the mission is Alejandro Martinez he is also a vampire. The book is also filled with succubi which are a mythological creature who survive on lust and sexually needs. Daria and her partner must come together to bring down her enemy Christopher Sante as he in the past had killed 5 people including her best friend Julia, she must get vengeance! Between the mission and discovering Sante's motives Daria slowly falls in love with Alejandro but is afraid of breaking down the walls she has formed around herself.

The Summary
Daria Morris is a special forces agent with one obsession: to wreak vengeance on the brutal vampire who nearly destroyed her. Now she’s finally about to get her chance, on one condition. She must become something she detests: a vampire.

Her fate rests upon one man’s lethal bite. His name is Alejandro Martinez, and he can help her infiltrate a highly guarded group of the Chosen. But Alejandro is also a distraction for Daria. Because thirteen years ago, they shared a scorching night of passion neither has forgotten.

Now, while Daria struggles against her new found blood lust, the two must slip into the shadows to bring a monster to justice—even as their desire threatens to consume them. But under the cover of night, they’ll discover that it’s the darkness within that may stand in the way of their hunger for retribution

Fun Summer-y Polka Dot Nails

Lately I've been into doing nails and try out different nail design so this is what i came up with late one night while watching a Jays game on the t.v and playing checkers with my siblings.
The pictures don't really do this design justice because in reality the colours and the fun design stand out and look very funky and fun for summer!!
What i did was basically was I put a base coat and a neutral colour but you can also do white - whatever your heart desires.
Then i took different colours such as blues, pinks and a yellow and dotted them on my nails.
You can do a patterns or start big and as you go up the nail the dots are smaller to create dimension with the nail.
Have fun trying this design!! :)

Homemade New York Fries

Yesterday my friends came over and since we were both bored and hungry we decided to make something that both of us have been craving for a while. We both like to try out and experiment in the kitchen plus our parents what us to learn how to cook its kinda mandatory lol. When were both hungry as hell or super bored that's when the best food is made. So outta the blue we made our homemade version of "Veggie Works" at home. Tell me what you think of our recreation.

We started by cutting potatoes and you can either bake them or fry them. Then after it was done we simply added melted cheese on top with sour cream, tomatoes and green onions (chives).
And there'syour homemade "Veggie Works!"

GO JAYS GO!!

Yesterday I went to my very first Jays game which was long over due. I think I went on the best day possible the sun was out the birds were whistling and the Jays were demolishing the Rays!!
Over the span of 3 1/2 hours there were 8 JAYS HOME RUNS which lead to a 17-11 blow out. It was nothing short of what I imagined it would be like = from the beer, crazy fans, baseballs, booing, cheers and pure excitinment and enjoyment.
The best part of the game was not only seeing my favourite player Aaron Hill but seeing the future of the Jays in J.P Arencibia (btw he is soo cute). At his first at bat and the first ball he saw, he licked it outta the park for a home run and that was only when the excitiment started.
I had an amazing time watching the game live instead of on the T.V like usual ... now if only I could catch one of those balls! :)
I plan to now go to one every year for the fun of it and who thought the Jays would kick the 2nd best teams butt in the MLB!

Nail Designs!

I really don't know what to called this but I saw this beautiful design on the internet and nails salons and had to try it out for myself.
It was very easy to do, its quick and simple and I will explain how.
  1. Starting with a base coat (helps you get your nail polish off easier and doesn't change nail's colour)
  2. Paint the entire nail in whatever colour you like I used a Green
  3. With a steady hand cover half of your nail with a nothing colour I used Blue. Go across the nail in a diagonal line.
  4. Lastly you can either leave the nail the way it is or you can put polka dots along the line to add more of a cuter look.

Angie steals Sophie's starring role in the school play, and, worse, her super-popular boyfriend. The Comeback is your basic teenage book about rumors, breaksups, love, backstabbing , revenge and friendship. It surrounds Sophie Donnelly who si our average junior highschool student, whi is also the most popular girl in school along side her boyfriend Conner. Then things change when a new girl named Angie Vogel enters the picture and not onlly takes her boyfrined but her popularity as well. Now she must fingure out how to get back to the top of the standings and take down Angie. Through her quest to take back her popularity she turns the whole school againest her and even her bestfriend Monet Lucero. I liked the book, I found it and easy read but it was TOO preditable. It was like every single typical teen book and movie. I give this book a 1.5/5. There is a lot of drama in this book. There are 196 pages.
