Figuring Shit Out

My current state of affairs. 

Trying to figure out my future, finances and relaxing at the same time. Not a easy feat. To help I have my ice coffee handy and some light reading when my brain can no longer function. So much for a slow and simple day off.

How You Think of Yourself - Self Image

One thing that most people don't know about me  (beside my bff) is that most of my complex thoughts happen at night. I don't think I'm the only one that has this, but at night when its the quietest and your allow with your thoughts and you think about all that you've done that day, within your life, who you want to be and what has been said. You come up with questions and answers that baffle you and cause my questions than answers.

Most of my thoughts consist of what I want to be and how I wish I could just be myself and people would except and understand me. The things that I think are usually the actions I'm too afraid to make or words that I wont say. Its like there is a different person in a alternate universe that looks like me.

Tonight after I got ready for bed I took a long look at myself in the mirror (yes everyone does this everyday) but i really looked at myself. I know sounds kinda weird to say (I MEAN YOU ALWAYS LOOK T YOURSELF CHRISTINA) but, I thought about all the hateful discouraging things that have been said to me on my short existence on this planet so far and then i thought about all the hateful things I've said to myself (like your so dark, your so ugly, I wish I was her) and that's when i realized . . . . you're the biggest critic of yourself and you can also be you're self's best motivator. 

As i looked in the mirror I realized that i am beautiful in my own way, i have to stop trying to be what society wants me to be and accept the the fact that I am dark skinned and that's just who I am. 

In my culture, family and even society, dark skin is not likable because people and society teach others to look down upon it. Also in history it was portrayed as evil. Only recently has this been changing BUT ever so slowly. I've been told that I'm too dark, men wouldn't like me because of my skin and I've even thought of bleaching my skin because I've grown up with so much hate. Everyone will still have things that they don't like about themselves but , hey its a  process that everyone must go through to understand themselves and tell others who think other wise to SUCK IT!

I've grown up with this and it still lingers in my mind but, I've come to find happiness in the way I look and I hope others will themselves just the same.

Taking It Easy

Take advantage of the beautiful weather and go outside. At least that's what I'm doing since it feels like we have 9 months of winter and 2 months of summer if we're lucky in Canada. After a jog in Cedervale ravine I laid back and relax to take in my view. Be one with nature and enjoy the beauty of the day. What a  better way to spend the day than looking up at the blue skies and sunshine it's natures natural stress reliever (if you're stressed - city can do that to you). I know some people go shopping but in my opinion this is a cheaper better way of therapy then shopping. Below are some of the scenes from early this morning ENJOY :)

Joe Fresh Nail Polish in Nude, Aqua and Mix Mojito

Recently went out and i decided to treat myself to something. Joe Fresh has cute nail polishes that are 3 for $10 and are amazing quality. I haven't been feeling like myself so this was something small to cheer me up. These colour are very opaque pastel and cute for the spring and summer season.

Nude is a very complimenting colour for my skin, neutral yet sophisticated. 2 coats shown here.

Aqua like its name a bright pastel fun baby blue, cute for the summer. 2 coats shown here.

Dark knight rises nails

In keeping with the biggest movie of the year and celebrating the end of dark knight I have decided that I needed to have batman nails as my way of adding to the hype of the dark knight. It's been a killer busy week and I have one more ahead. But the positive is that people at my work loved my nails and so did the customers going to watch the movie so in a sense my work is done. Enjoy and tell me what you think! :)

Neon Splatter Nails

I saw this as a cute design for summer, but i had to try this as soon as i can. When i Googles nail art i never once saw this neon splatter so i might as well be one of the first (unless i didnt google hard enough :S)

 This was a really and fun easy manicure to accomplish its just very messy.

This is what your nails will look like at first so make sure you colour the floor with newspaper and around your nail with tape to make clean up easier. To do this all i got were my nail polishes lined up and ready to use and then i got a straw to use to blow the nail polish on my nails. First i dipped the straw into the bottle directly and blowed the straw aiming at my nails. The faster you blow into the straw the less bigger blobs of polish you will get. in the end you will get a colourful and fun looking manicure.

Pac Man Nails

These were done a couple months ago, i just happened to find them now. These are my Pac Man nails, i think i want to start putting more classic Atari games on my nails. On the thumbs i have Pac man and woman and i have the ghost chasing after them. What do you think of them? This is just a really short post, enjoy!

Study Time

Just a quick post on what I've been up too. This whole week I've been bombarded with hmwk and extra curriculars. I had a lot of serious tests today,and I have one left to go! But this has been my view for the whole week at the library. I've been practically living there, thank god it's opened and not on strike.

I rant!

I planned to post so many new things this weekend and now I can't because I don't even have a weekend anymore. I work 9 hours today!! And on top of that I have a crapload of homework and that's not even the worst part! The worst part is we have been getting summer like weather and I have to be stuck indoors. . . I mean SERIOUSLY just my luck!?!
Oh but it doesn't stop there, I was hoping to get new books to review and read and just to keep myself happy but I can't do that either because all the library staff is on strike in Toronto.
And the absolute worst part of having to work is that fact I can't even do my nails! How will I keep my sanity! Slowly tryna cope. I just had to rant lol

OPI Gone Gonzo! Review and swatches

This is one of the nail polishes from the OPI Muppets collection. Its called Gone Gonzo! which is a a blue sparkle nail polish with silver hexagonal sparkles with it. It takes 2 to 3 coats for opacity and it took 3 to 4 days to see a chip but it wasnt even noticable. I never knew when my two year old cousin picked this colour up that it was apart of the Muppets collection, I really like their collection and I have been into sparkly nail polishes as of late.

March Break meals: baked ziti pasta

Me and my brother cooked up this baked macaroni Ziti pasta for dinner this week. We like to experiment and try different things. I love to cook, its one of my passions and it doesn't hurt to be able to prove your parents wrong either by showing them that you can cook. 

Nail Polish Swatch and Review : Essie Secret Stash

I know I've been M.I.A and that's because I recently got a job so that's been taking up most to all of my time. I went out and got this nail polish by Essie at my local nail polish store this was on sale for $2.99, usually the price is 6-7 dollars a bottle. This is a bright, hot pink nail polish that is bold and perfect for summer. For opacity I needed 3 coats, it was a very liquidity formula, but other than that a very beautiful colour.

Burt&apos;s Bees Hibiscus lip balm review

I really was looking for a great hydrating lip balm for the winter but one that would also give my lips a pink flush. And i found this at my local Shopper's Drug Mart. Its Burt Bee's Tinted Lip Balm in the colour Hibiscus. At first i thought this colour might be a little too red but it was a beautiful shade that suits me. It was $ 5.99, and i thought the packaging was really creative, the end shows the colour your getting and the outside has the ingredients they use which is all natural products.
