Chatelaine-isk Salad

I just wanted to make a quick post about lunch today, I sent this pic to my cousin and she told me it looked like it came out of  Chatelaine magazine. So i thought hey why not post this beauty. Its a simple aAsiansalad of my own creation. It has croutons,  spinach leaves, red and green cabbage and some edamame beans to top it off. Super fast and delicious and I got to watch one of my fav movies "A Maid In Manhattan" ughh I love JLo in this, one of her best in my opinion.
Thanks for reading:)

Colourful Tomato Salad

Usually a quick snack during the day helps the hunger pangs until I eat lunch of dinner.
I have been trying to eat 6 small meals a day and so far I can see a difference in what I eat how I eat and my body.
For the salad I used a yellow and red tomato, cucumber and basil to make this quick and delicious salad. Instead of a heavy salad dressing I made my own by using olive oil, salt and black pepper.
YUM. I hope y'all enjoy!

Quinoa Asian Bowl

This turned out surprisingly well. I literally had nothing but leftovers from the weekend and I thought what better to have for lunch than some quinoa. Its filling and fast to make cause I'm lazy on a Monday. I put a asian twist on it and grilled the chicken breast with hosein sauce and added sweet green peas to the quinoa.
Garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds and enjoy.

Everything Insalata

My everything salad when there's nothing to eat and everything to eat. When you can't make a decision on what to put in your salad. It started out as a Greek salad and transformed from there. NOM NOM the best part is digging into this salad.
Currently watching the world cup on my day off and working out talk about multi-tasking.
Have a good day.

Colourful and simple

My lunch for today. It's simple bright and colourful.
A turkey wrap with edamame beans on the side, eating healthy doesn't have to be boring and tiresome.
Find fun ways to spice up your everyday meals, this is just one example.

Chicken Diablo

Here is a new recipe I made up from everything I could find in my fridge.
Left over chicken is one of the best things you can have in your kitchen it's so versatile and can be made into anything and incorporated into any recipe.
Today I have my newest recipe inspired by Chef Micheal Simon, it's called chicken diablo.
I took leftover chicken added some veggies (anything in your fridge) and a sauce of you choice I used a bit of tomato paste and seasoning.
It's very versatile and can be curved to the taste you like.

Pineapple Raspberry Parfait

This is my go to breakfast when I'm running late for school or a snack before my workout. The best part is this can be made in advance, you can take it on the go and it's so simple and can easily be changed to your preference.
This is usually $5 when you buy it but for that price you can get all the ingredients and make 7 for that price.

This morning in my parfait I had raspberries, pineapple chunks and my fav some chopped walnuts.
Hope you try this out, and thanks for reading!

Spinach and Ham Omelet

I love to start my day with a good breakfast. Usually I'm out of the house by 8am, but if I can wake up and make something I will. This has been one of my favourite breakfasts lately. Ever since I saw how Chef Micheal Simon made a simple feta & spinach omelet I've been hooked.

This is really simple and easy to make and the best part is it only takes one pan and you can easy leave it on the stove top on low and start packing your bags for the day with out having to check it or flip it.
 What I do:
1.beat two eggs, season how you like
2.add it to a hot pan
3. pull the edges in to the center so the runny egg can go to the pan and cook
4. add what ingredients you like to one side of the egg ( I chose baby spinach leaves, green onions, havarti cheese and ham slices)
5. fold egg and keep on low
6. EAT!

The tomatoes I learnt from my Italian friends Nonna (technically my nonna too!). She cuts the tomato in half, drizzle olive oil over, some chopped basil and garlic and there you have it. Pretty simple and soooooo delicious.

Try it out and follow my blog for more posts.

Homemade Cobb salad

This is a brand new salad I tried recently. I've seen this salad so many times online and in recipe books so I thought I wondered if it tastes as good as it looks. All these delicious ingredients were laid on a bed of baby spinach (you could also use lettuce or are anything you like). From the back of this picture i have shredded cabbage, carrots, then avocado, turkey, tomato's and feta cheese. All together this was one the the prettiest salads I've ever made and it tasted equally good as well.If you try this out let me know.

ENJOY!

Simple healthy snack: Pico de Gallo & Pita

One of my favorite and simple snacks is Pico de Gallo. It's a symphony of flavours from red onion to the plum tomatoes and hint of lemon juice. I like this best of a piece of fish for dinner. During the day it make a delicious dip with pita.
Pico de Gallo consist of avocado, salt, pepper, red onions, plum tomatoes, jalapenos and a squeeze of lemon juice.
This is now one of my dads favourite "salad" like meals, enjoy and try this recipe out for yourself.

Early Bird Catches the Worm

Good morning!
I have an insane amount of energy today! So who knows what I'm going to do maybe I'll go for a jog. I've been awake since 5am this morning, I think its from the amount of sleep and food I've been eating trying to get healthy. I've been sick for the past 3 weeks with the flu and the ever changing crappy Canadian weather wasn't helping my problems.

So after 3 weeks of feeling like dirt I've managed to wake up early get some breakfast in me and now I'm planning a workout for today. Never realized that workout and eating healthy leads to a better immune system, cleaner skin, and loads of energy.

I'll just leave you with some pictures of a morning in Toronto :)

Health Nut 101 💪🍌🍓🍊

Lately since school is done for me and i have a lot more time on my hands and summer is around the corner, I've felt compelled to try a healthier lifestyle. Not saying that i dont eat healthy all year around but I've never been one to go out of my way to eat clean for a WHOLE week. Since i can eat the way i want when i want and i can prepare and cook my meals, I've tried to eat healthier. Overall its been fun to experiment and try different foods as well say cook. To think my parents used to think i couldnt cook. TO PROVING PARENTS WRONG! Muahaha!
This is also a good way to learn to cook and try different foods. Due to this wee bit of change my family has also started to eat more green and healthier as well.
Below is some of breakfast options I've been eating. I wont lie tumblr has inspired me too!
Enjoy and dont get to hungry :)

Feta watermelon salad

Its been a scorcher in Toronto as we have been going through a heat wave with weather that feels like 40 degrees for the past 3 days.
The best part it's time for shorts and pool its officially SUMMER!
So to help deal with the heat i made this feta watermelon salad (watermelons are my all time fav fruit especially for summer!) in this salad all i have is green onions, mint, red vinegar, watermelon and feta cheese. The watermelon is the sweet and juice of the salad, the cheese adds the salt and the mint and onions finish it off. Its a wonderfully mix of flavours, i didn't know how this would taste but it really taste good and i usually am not one to have fruits in a salad. This is a healthy choose if your ever craving sweets and not only that its refreshing as well.
